Bring Back Precious Memories! - Hana Mandlikova in Her Dunlop Maxply Fort-Days

So sorry… They weren’t taken well, those dumb pictures taken by my toy camera… But you know what? They are the most and the first precious pics I’ve ever had about Hana Mandlikova. I took them directly from TV being in high spirits when I was in Sydney, 1979. That year, 16-year-old Hana made some tremendous achievements in Australia for an overseas visitor. Amazingly, she won three out of the five big women’s tournaments in Australia in Adelaide (Berri Fruit Juices), Sydney (Nabisco NSW), and Melbourne (Toyota Classic). As she said in her autobiography, since this year Hana started her love affair with Aussie.

.
Oh, I can remember clearly, when I was in Australia, all the TV programmes broadcasted were just boring. They were just super super super boring for 13-year-old tomboy girl like me. They mainly broadcasted kind of gardening, cooking, wild animals, movies, tennis, and… Yes! Crickets!!! God, I would never forget this. Believe me I have no hard feelings against crickets whatsoever, but it’s dreadfully boring thing for me. I thought crickets was the most passionless sports in the world and it almost killed me. Sorry, crickets freaks, maybe I was too baby-in-arms to understand crickets. But tennis really wasn’t my passion, either. No.

.

Then, Hana appeared. From that moment, my everyday just changed. My preferences, activities range, order of preferences, family talk in the evening, they just totally changed. Playing , watching, or talking about tennis / Hana came first, it became the top priority in my everyday. Hana was like a Haley’s comet. I bought Dunlop Maxply Fort that Hana was using, tied bandanna around my head and rushed to tennis court. It became my everyday life.

.

When I first saw Hana on TV, I was like a wood being struck by lightning. “Where the hell does she come from?" . "Czechoslovakia?" . "How is it pronounced like?" . "Where is it?” I asked my father sitting beside me so many questions one after another. You could almost call it “a shock.” Because I’d never seen a woman tennis athlete looked so repellent, stern, and lone. She was playing definitely with some distinctive atmosphere that no athlete ever had. Is it because she was from one of communist countries? I don’t know… Maybe it is because what she is. And I don’t see “repellent”, “stern”, “lone” these words to be as bad meaning. On the contrary, I think she is so gifted with these to attract tennis fans enough. And a commentator of a Aussie tennis magazine at that time described Hana as such,

.

“Her business-like manner and get-on-with-the-game attitude, together with her classical strokes and attacking shots, her touches of brilliance and boldness, make her a most exciting player to watch. (“TENNIS” 1979)

.

Yes, it tells all about typical Hana Mandlikova of 1979. She was like a big typhoon. She was so different from others: the way she walked, the way she served and hit the ball, the way she glared at opponent, the way she swept her hair, and the atmosphere she had. She was so distinctive and hot. The hottest and the coolest tennis player in the world. These impression of Hana has been fadeless and stayed with me since, and I swear to God, I don’t think I can encounter this kind of tennis player after her.

.
There is no another Hana Mandlikova.

You watch this video! Hana got her first grand slam title in Australian Open in 1980. The runner-up is Wendy Turnbull. Hana, barely 18-years-old, is so cute! So dinamite! And so hilarious!

I'll make new comment on this clip later. Believe me.

For now, I have to go get shower and jump into bed and get some sleep.

Good night.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here, I'm back again with wanna-say-something-urge on Wendy Turnbull, a former Australian top tennis player, who was the one that our Hana Mandlikova had played against some times in her tournament history.

When I was in Australia, back in 1978 to 80, Wendy Turnbull was like a heart-throb tennis athlete. So hot! As you know, this Australian-born tennis player was called "Rabbit" and literally she moved so fast and looked so cute on the court. Also, she was well known as well-mannered person that she was loved by lot of people in Australia and regarded as a Hero as far as I can remember.

We loved her so much! When she played against Hana Mandlikova, however I was a huge fan of Hana, I always wanted Wendy to play well against anybody, even to Hana.

But recently I've found her being SO FAT! How come it can happen? I just wanna know why she's put on so much weight to kill our fan's heart? It totally breaks our heart! It really does! I kid you not!

Did something huge tragic thing happen to her life so she's been eating so much to kill her pain? God, somebody please let me know. Give me a clue! You should help me out. Maybe I'd been too far away from her latest personal history.

There seems to have been nothing to bother her. She's got fame (inducted into the AUSTRALIAN Tennis Hall of Fame in 2009), she doesn't have to struggle to make a living, she can lead her life with no trouble as a tennis coach or something like that. Oh, wait! I might be wrong. Wendy's been so happy that she's relieved in eating and getting fat? God, I think she should control her weight, because she has so many fans. She should think about them. Don't you think?

I know our Hana Mandlikova's also put on a bit of a weight now as you can see. Honestly, I really want her to be on a diet and try to be in good shape for her family and for all the fans who's still adoring her so much.

You know, I don't mean that I want my superstar to be, like, what exactly she looked like as she was young, because it's IMPOSSIBLE! She retired from tennis circuit long time ago, gave birth to twins, and now she 's 47! No wonder she can't be the same. What I'm saying here is I just want her to be someone like who's SO HOT FOR HER AGE! SO FIT FOR HER AGE! So middle-aged-fans like us can think, like, "Oh, God, look at Hana! I can still make myself go," or " I'm not finished yet!" Yes! They truely have a magic to inspire us to follow our dreams, even they are not top athletes any more. Their well-balanced appearances encourages us a lot. Used-to-be-top-athletes should know this.

In closing, no matter how much weight she gained, Hana Mandlikova is my eternal Superstar notwithstanding..., you know that already, huh?

At the Single Final of '80 Australian Open - Hana Was A Dinamite!

Hana defeated Wendy Turnbull in Australian Open Final in '80. This young 17-year-old girl from Czechoslovakia was literally a lethal weapon to Aussie-born player, Wendy. Wendy is a well-mannered player, I really liked watching her play actually.
Oh, I remember that I stuck to TV and screamed out at every competitive scene until the match had finished. So my brother did. He was also a huge of tennis who was mad about this hottest rockstar-like tennis legend from Argentina, called Guillermo Vilas.
Anyway, I thought that Hana was like a big fat wild bear, because young Hana was so bursting with youthful, so outpouring of energy. She seemed huge and so umcomparable to anyone. I could feel some kind of instinction that I would be totally captivated by this superstar for whole my life. And she wonderfully did it!

At the sencond game of 2nd set, she slipped down on the lawn just after trying to hitting it back. At the very moment, she didn't know what happened to her. She just sat on the lawn blankly for a moment, and then started giving a shame-faced laughing at Wendy. Wendy also smiled back at Hana. The gallery was all clapping and cheering to this hilarious moment. It was one of the most touching scenes in this match.
Lovely!
